16 Jul

Nawa for Culture and Arts Association  opened the recreational park “Al-Bayyara” on Thursday 14th of July, 2016 in Al-Zawayda and Deir Al-Balah.
“Al-Bayyara” project is one of the most important national projects funded by the Welfare Association together with a group of supporters, including Bank of Palestine, WAY and Mona & Bassem Hishmeh, seeking to build recreational and educational facilities for children and families  in various areas of Palestine in governorates, villages and the countryside, including Gaza Strip and West Bank.
The opening ceremony included speeches by NAWA’s Executive Director, Ms. Reem Abu Jaber, Mr. Fadi Hindi of the Welfare Association and Mr. Badr Zimmu of the Bank of Palestine.
The opening ceremony also included rich and varied displays of Palestinian heritage such as Palestinian embroidery, recycled palm fronds, baking of  local unleavened bread, in addition to a number of fine artists who showcased their skills and talents.
The children of Al-Zawayda and Deir Al-Balah welcomed the guests in their own way by performing a wonderful singing chorus of Palestinian traditional folk songs.
“Al- Bayyara” garden in Al-Zawayda and Deir Al-Balah is the first of its kind and reflects positive environmental concepts and practices: all games and recreational corners for children are made from natural wood and materials sourced from the local environment. “Al- Bayyara” garden offers a variety of cultural and recreational activities for children and their mothers including free play, storytelling, reading, fine arts, and activities which involve recycling and reusing local materials. .
