The Power of Culture confronting the Culture of Power
A new dream of NAWA’s dreams coming
into reality.
Reading is growth, just as walking
paves the way for running. The letter paves the way for the word, and the word
paves the way for the sentence. Speech is the natural prelude to reading.
Reading is the basis of education and its first means. The reading child is a
developing child who can determine his learning desires. Believing in the
importance of having the book in a stimulating environment for children, Nawa for
Culture and Arts Association has
rehabilitated six libraries from schools in the middle area of Gaza Strip in
cooperation with the Ministry of Education through the project " Enhancing
the learning environment for primary school children in the Gaza Strip - Phase
1"
We are proud that we were able to
rehabilitate (100%) of the resource
rooms and libraries of the schools in the middle area that are most in need. As
the interventions consisted of rehabilitating, furnishing, and equipping school
libraries, we were keen on the new designs to take into account the creation of
a calm, comfortable and inclusive environment for children, and the optimal
investment of spaces. Libraries were provided with books and stories covering
many cultural and educational fields for children.
NAWA carried out rehabilitation interventions
in Al-Aishiya primary School, Deir Al-Balah primary School, Rudolph Walter primary
School, Rudolph Walter Basic primary School A for Boys, Abdul Karim Al-Aklouk Primary
School for Boys, and Abdullah bin Rawaha primary School.
" كان لدي شغف هائل بالاستماع إلى أغاني النساء في الليالي التي تسبق الأفراح في دير البلح، ولم أكن أفهم كلمات الأغاني بشكل كامل فكانت النساء يجلسنني بجانبهن.

In the date season, men practice the task of shaking the dates and lowering them from the long trees to start making many popular and local dishes.
"Deir Al-Balah; the bride of Palestine is the name of my city, with these pictures I documented the rituals of dates and soft dates.
