The Power of Culture confronting the Culture of Power
In 2017 with a total space of 250 m², the Association opened NAWA gallery which is the first of its kind in the Middle area. It provides the children in Gaza with a specialized program in interactive arts and sciences. The Gallery focuses on presenting interactive arts and sciences that are linked to the formal education curricula of schools; it is considered a comprehensive learning environment in terms of activities, training courses and the building itself.
To enhance the effective use of non-formal education and its different tools, every year, the Gallery hosts science exhibitions accompanied by interactive activities, which aim to increase childrens passion for arts and sciences. Among the exhibits that the Gallery has hosted are Eye and Vision Exhibit in association with Al Nayzak Organization – Jerusalem, and Motion and Stillness Exhibit in association with A. M. Qattan Foundation – Ramallah.
The Gallery team includes a coordinator and four specialized animators in fields of sciences, arts and revitalization. Each member has distinguished and creative skills that help the children in their journey to arts and sciences.
In Gaza, cultural, educational and art services witness a qualitative and quantitative shortage of sources related to non-formal education for children and their parents
The Gallery is ready to offer its educational services through an organized program to receive visits from kindergartens, school and local institutions, and it welcomes people with disabilities and will also offer a sign language interpreter if required.
It offers different interventions that support the role of parents as they are the first teacher for their children including:
